Opera has released a new Web3 browser with a built-in crypto wallet. The so-called crypto browser is now available as a beta version for Windows, Mac and Android devices. Opera wants to make it easier for its users to access crypto currencies and NFTs.
Norwegian software company Opera is working on a new web browser. Under the title “Crypto Browser Project”, the software developer has now already released a pre-release version. The so-called crypto browser is now available as a beta version for Windows, Mac and Android devices.
In an official blog post, Opera describes its new browser itself as a Web3 browser, which is supposed to play a crucial role in the decentralized Internet. Even less tech-savvy people would be open to new marketing opportunities beyond normal surfing.
Crypto-Corner: New Opera browser includes a crypto wallet
Opera has developed its new crypto browser specifically for browsing the Web3. This means that the browser mainly supports decentralized applications such as blockchain technology and Metaverse platforms.
Like the current Opera browser, the new crypto browser will also include a protocol-free VPN, an ad blocker and a tracking blocker. The new Crypto-Corner also provides access to blockchain news, NFTs, crypto communities as well as current courses.
The browser also contains a crypto wallet that allows users to access their digital currencies and log in to so-called decentralized apps (dApps). In addition to the Crypto-Corner, the new Opera browser includes some social media apps by default.
Users can use the sidebar to access Twitter, Reddit, Telegram or WhatsApp, for example. The dashboard also provides access to decentralized exchange and NFT apps.
Crypto browser supports Bitcoin and Ethereum – more currencies to follow
According to Opera, the new browser already supports the blockchains of the crypto currencies Bitcoin, Ethereum, Celo and Nervos in the beta version. More digital currencies are to follow gradually. According to Opera, there are already partnerships with Handshake, NEAR, Polygon and Solana.
Some of these currencies are expected to follow as early as the first quarter of 2022. The crypto wallet also supports both fungible ERC-20 and non-fungible ERC-721 standards. ERC-1155 is to be added in the course of the year. In addition, the implementation of various NFT features is planned.
Within the Crypto-Corner, users should sooner or later also be able to trade crypto currencies.
