Anti Corruption Establishment arrests 4 for ‘leaking’ PPSC test question papers

LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested on Saturday four people allegedly involved in leaks the question paper for the written examination conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission for 58 posts in the revenue department.

According to the ACE spokesman, the suspects–Waqar Akram, a junior data entry operator at the PPSC, Ghazanfar, a finance department employee, Gohar Ali, an MPhil History student at the Punjab University, and Mazhar Iqbal, a private citizen–were captured in red by a special investigation team hours before the written examination for 58 tehsildars, consolidation/mountain torrent officer.

As many as 103,487 applicants had qualified for a competitive review of the advertised positions.

A week ago, ACE Director-General Gohar Nafees formed a three-member special investigation team to investigate evidence on the leakage of question papers from PPSC examinations.

The spokesperson said that the suspects receivedRs800,000 bribe for leaking each question paper, according to the ACE team’s investigation.

“The four arrested gang members confessed that they not only leaked the test question papers for Tehsildar posts but also previous papers for the positions of inspector and assistant director of ACE, lecturers in chemistry, education, etc,” he added, adding that further inquiry was underway.

Mr Nafees said it would bring to light all the truth of the scam and take indiscriminate action against those involved in it.
