Let’s see, what could I write about today? Well, many of you seem to really have a problem figuring out how to write numbers, when you’re transcribing. GoTranscript does have a specific style that they want for all of their numbers and if you just took a little time to look in the guidelines, like you’re supposed to, you wouldn’t be making the mistakes that I see.

But a lot of the mistakes I see are that when I say something like this, this cost me five bucks, you don’t notate it correctly. Or I’ll say that we’re that some of us were born in the 90s. Not me, but maybe some of you, and you won’t format the 90s correctly. Or maybe I’ll say that, uh, that 100% of you are at least trying to pass this test.

But you won’t write that out either correctly and maybe I’ll say that. The last time I checked, the weight of this item that I’m holding here was about seven pounds. Or maybe the length of this wall over here is 12 feet and you won’t even look and see if you’re doing that correctly. So what if I say that there are nine or 10 of you who are paying attention, but for some reason don’t do things correctly.

Well, I don’t really know what to do about that and if I tell you that this is clean verbatim and not full verbatim, some of you are still going to put the things in that you’re not supposed to put in clean verbatim. Like, oh, let’s see, for example, if I have a filler or false start, or if I replace, or excuse me if I repeat myself, and or I go back and change what I was saying, or stop in the middle of a sentence and start something else. You know, some of you will put those things in as though it were full verbatim, even though I’m telling you now, right here in the audio that it’s clean verbatim well.

And sometimes you won’t italicize film, book magazine or song titles. Even if I tell you that I just saw the movie Ghostbusters afterlife and it was really good. Some of you are just going to write it Ghostbusters afterlife and not italicize it, which is so wrong.

And also, I don’t know if you want to pay 20 bucks to watch it on Amazon. But I have to say it’s almost worth that much. It’s almost worth 20 bucks. So what else can I say? Well, I don’t know. It’s not that we don’t want to hire new transcribers? We absolutely do.

But if you’re not going to format things correctly, then what can we do because the formatting is at least 50% of the whole game, the whole ball of wax. So please look at the guidelines and see if you can figure out which things I’m telling you in this audio that you can fix in format correctly, and you just might have a shot at it. Okay, thanks and good luck.
